Ordering a debt-register extract: how it works

Last updated: July 2026

You can request an extract from the debt-collection register about yourself from the debt-collection office of your place of residence. It shows ongoing and partly closed debt collections and is often required by landlords. For the order, a copy of your ID and details of your current and previous addresses are usually needed; a fee applies.

In the order, state your name, date of birth, current and – if you moved recently – previous addresses as well as the purpose of use. The competent office is the one at your residence. Check whether your office also offers the order online, which is often faster.

Recommended shipping method

Because the order contains a copy of your ID, we recommend reliable sending by A-Post or – for proof – by registered mail (from CHF 8.99). Also check any online offering by your office. This is a recommendation.
